U7

Our paparazzi man was out again this week taking more pictures of some
of our future stars. As next weekend is a bank holiday weekend there
will be no training for these hard working girls on Sunday June 3rd.
Of course we will be back in full swing the Sunday after on June the
10th. Enjoy your break girls you deserve you were all brilliant in
training and the thrilling match at the end showed us all how much you
have come in you camogie skills well done to you all.

MINOR

This is now a very small squad and we have reverted to one training
session on the Sunday
morning 10am - 11am.
Again best of luck to the above girls and also to our under 16 players
who join the minors for
the Sunday morning sessions and our matches throughout the year.
To Alex, Leanne, Fiona, Kate, Lauren, Julia we hope all goes well and
see you after the

exams..... and if you want to let off some steam then join us on the
Sunday morning......
The minor championship has not yet been drawn but we shall keep you
all up to date.

JUNIOR

We had our last outing in the 2012 league on Friday night at home
against Castlemagner,
sadly it was not our best performance and overall the better team on
the night won...... it was
a low scoring game with both teams having to work hard to get scores.
Despite trying our hardest over the hour many of the the plans made at
training just didn't
work out on the night. Aisling in goal gave her usual strong
performance and could not be
blamed for the goal. our full back line of Shannen, captain Louise and
the inform Nicola
worked tirelessly and put their bodies on the line. In the half back
line Adele, Ciara and Emer
again did their best to stop the continuous attack and worked
tirelessly. In midfield we found
it hard to get a grip despite excellent efforts of Mia and Sinead.....
we moved things around
but again the Castlemagner duo just had a little bit more than us on
the night... the half
forwards of Chloe, Edel and Claire found this line difficult to break
down and their centre
back was on form on the night setting up play... our full forward line
didn't get a huge amount
of ball but Orlaith, Laura B and Aoife did their best.
We thought we might be down players on the night as we had many girls
coming back for
their college exams and also a number of the leaving cert students
were unavailable on the
night... but we had 25 players to chose from which is a credit to any
team and in particular a
team who have a senior team.
We introduced Laura O Donoghue who is coming back to form and was a
key player in 2011
and we are looking for her to reach those levels again this year, new
'girl' Kate Dwyer came
on the forward line, Laura Driscoll was introduced into the midfield
area, Lisa O Callaghan
came in at corner back and and Fiona O Brien came into the half forward line....
We have left the league behind us and we have a lot of work ahead but
we shall enjoy playing
the Munster Summer League and try out new things and enjoy playing
different teams. Our
first match is Monday 28th May in Brian Dillons (Dillons are a Junior
A team) but shall give
it our best shot......
Best of luck and we hope all goes well to our Leaving Cert ladies
doing their exams: Aisling
& Chloe Hennigan, Sarah McCoy, Catriona Ni Chathasaigh, Meabh McManaman, Orlaith
Jennings & Aisling Walsh.

U7 Training gaining momentum

These girls have shown great determination lately in trying to master
the basic skills of the game. You can see that there are a number of
future stars in the making in this talented bunch of girls. The girls
have been put through their paces by Michael, Bairbre and Brendan and
there enthusiasm for Camogie and fun is never ending. The girls have
been learning how to strike and block the sliothar. They have also
been learning the skills of dribbling the ball. All this done with a
smile by girls and trainers together. Here's a picture of some of our
future stars striking a pose for our club paparazzi man, who has to
remain nameless so he can get more pictures that I am sure will appear
in the newsletter in the next couple of weeks.

If you would like your girls to have fun, make new friends while
learning the skills of Camogie on a Sunday morning bring them down to
the GAA grounds at 12.15 on a Sunday morning or contact Brendan Butler
on 0876145532

The summer is eventually starting

We aren't talking about the weather either. Mind you things are going
to get hot on the camogie field pretty soon. We have nearly 100 girls
playing camogie at U8, U9, U10, U11 and U12 grades. All these girls
diligently turn up for training every Sunday. practice their skills,
take part in various blitzes and now have their chance to take part in
the County Board Summer leagues. Between now and August the county
board will run about 1200 go games and these brilliant Ballincollig
girls are ready to get stuck in to complete their fixtures so they can
take part in the big blitzes at the County Boards HQ in Castle Road in
August. We wish all these girls well in their respective games. Spare
a thought for the trainers who have to organise all the matches and
make sure the girls are in tip top shape for the summer. If any
parents feel like getting involved to help don't be backwards in
coming forwards. It would be great to get more people involved in
organising these games for these wonderful girls of Ballincollig

Under 16

Are training every Friday evening and are awaiting last few league
fixture which will be played after the exams, good luck to all

JUNIOR

With exam time for the College Students and the leaving cert around
the corner training numbers have been reduced, however, those
attending are getting the benefit of excellent training sessions.
On Sunday we had mini matches and this livened up the training
sessions, it was an excellent outing and as we await news of the
League match regarding Castlemagner we keep our heads down working on
our camogie.
The Junior B Championship draw was made as follows:
GROUP A - BALLINCOLLIG, BALLYGARVAN & ST CATHERINES
GROUP B - Castlemagner, Cloyn, St Finbarrs
GROUP C - Courcey Rovers, Youghal, Glen Rovers
GROUP D - Ballinascarthy, Sliabh Rua, St Vincents
only first placed team goes through to semi finals.
A V D
B V C
There are no dates yet but we should know in the shortly approximate time.
Training continues on WEDNESDAY / FRIDAY & SUNDAY nearly on PITCH 5 -
so come a bit earlier as there is a little walk to warm up.

MINOR

Unfortunately for training in this group we have 9 girls doing leaving
certificates and we are only seeing a few of those at training during
the week or on Sundays which I suppose is disappointing, however, we
understand the importance of studying for the exams but do feel 1 hour
per week is not a huge amount of time to request. The Under 16's who
join us are also doing junior cert so it's a very studious group we
have and those who chose to attend are availing of the excellent small
sessions which we hope will benefit us for Championship.
The dedicated hour for all minors is SUNDAY AT 11AM on pitch 5 and we
hope to see a few more faces at this session.
We welcome back Mairead O Dwyer who has been plagued with injuries
this year and she did a great session on Friday last. Also we are
hoping for good news on Laura Barry and hope to see her back training
soon.
MUNSTER SUMMER LEAGUE coming up in June - this will be a mix of our
Juniors and non-exam Minors to make up a team to participate and we
are also heading to the Kingdom mid June for a one day blitz, so we
have plenty to train for.
Make that extra push to attend training.

U16

This group of girls have got off to a flying start in their league
campaign, recording a comprehensive victory against Carrigtwohill and
a hard fought but well deserved win against neighbours Ballinora.
We still have St.Catherines and Carrigaline to play, we are hoping to
ha have these fixtures scheduled before we break to allow the girls
prepare for their exams.
Well done to Judy Murphy and the Cork U16B panel who recorded a 2
point win against Waterford in the Munster Final on Sunday last.

MINOR

the bulk of this panel are studying hard for the Leaving or Junior
Cert. Despite this a hardy group of girls were put through their paces
on Sunday morning and were in top form and worked tirelessly over the
hour.
Our new training home appears to be Pitch 5 and we are delighted to
have the facility.... the little country walk wakes us up and then
cools us down on the way to and back from there.
Huge thanks to the men of the club who have worked tirelessly to
ensure another excellent training facility.
With exams this group are on hold for matches as we are aware of how
important the exams are to each and every player.
Congrats to Sarah Mc Coy and Sinead O Sullivan who celebrated their
18th Birthdays last week......?

going to use the league for good challenge opposition and travelling

Annual Blitzes come to an end

We finished off our under age annual blitzes in style last weekend.
This week it was the turn of the U10's (all 24 of them). Again there
was tremendous entertainment and no shortage of camogie skills and
determination for the large crown in attendance to witness.
Ballincollig had two teams taking part along with teams from Eire Og,
Douglas, Inniscarra, St Fanahans, Ballinhassig and St Finbarrs. All
games were competitive and exciting with the crowd, mentors and
players all enjoying a great day.
Of course these blitzes can't happen without the hard work of a huge
team of people both on, around and off the pitch So here goes. Thanks
to our refs Fiona, Jess, Ciara, Mairead, Leanne, Johnny and Frank.
Thanks to the kitchen crew who constantly turn up with a wilingness to
help and serve the masses with a smile, the people involved are
Eileen, Breda, Liam Noreen, Conor, Mairead, Maria, Linda, Kathy, Mary,
Bridie May, Orla. Thanks to the bar staff in the GAA Club especially
Claire and Leah for all the help each Saturday we invaded the place.
Thanks to the mentors for coming down early to prepare pitches and to
tidy up everything after each Blitz. A special thanks has to go the
mentors and co ordinators for having the girls well trained in their
Camogie skills, for getting them to a level where they play the game
with skill, determination, and true sportsmanship.
Thanks to the parents for supplying us with loads of sambos, home made
cakes (especially Tracy's chocolate biscuit cake), and biccies. Thanks
for supporting your girls and their team mates. Finally a huge thanks
to all the girls that took part in the blitzes. You are a credit to
yourselves, your families, and the club. By my count that's about 90
people in all who make these wonderful days happens. Well done to you
all.

Check out the photo section on our website www.ballincolligcamogie.com
to get a flavour of the action on these great days. The smiles on the
girls faces tells the whole story.

For girls of all ages it's back to honing their skills for our busy
summer league schedule which will start towards the end of May.

If you would like to partake in wonderful days like these, learn about
the game of camogie in a friendly and safe environment feel free to

Well done to Judy Murphy and the Cork U16B panel who recorded a 2

JUNIOR B

The girls played on bank holiday Monday in Ballinascarthy - this match
had been cancelled but we rallied the girls and got a good response to
travel for match start at 4.45pm.
Ballinascarthy had only 14 players available, we had a number of
injuries and players unavailable due to the leaving certificate, and
the match was nearly 45 minutes last starting as referee was delayed
in traffic but despite all of these we recorded our 3rd win in the
League. With only match to play against Castlemagner it will possibly
be the decider. However, as the match was cancelled by Castlemager
just the evening before it was to start the mentors have taken the
important decision to defer all county board fixtures till after the
exams.
The team lined out with Aisling Hen in goal and though not very busy
she kept alert to the every present threat of Ballinascarthy. Full
back Louise had a difficult job at full back, as she was our extra
player, and held the line strong, corner backs Lisa and Sinead both
performed well and when Shannen was introduced she also stuck to the
task of tight marking. Half back line of Nicola, Ciara and Rachel
Nevin were very strong and held the line and gave away only limited
ball to the attacking forwards. At midfield Edel and Mia both worked
tirelessly and set up many of our scoring opportunities.... half
forwards Laura O D (great to see back in action), Chloe Hen - who gave
her best league performance to date, and Claire Ryan all did very
well, our new look full forward line of Laura Barrett, Emma and
Orlaith all were excellent and all got on the score sheet. We
introduced the young Fiona O Brien into the half forward line and she
did very well in her first Junior league match, we also introduced new
comer from 'Cashel' Kate and she did very well setting a marker with
an excellently taken point.
Our scores came from: Laura Barrett, Emma Donovan, Claire Ryan,
Orlaith Jennings, Fiona O Brien, Chloe Hennigan and Kate O Dwyer.
A huge thank you to those who travelled on the day, we are glad it was
a worth while journey and we came away with the win... also thanks to
our injured players who travelled Aoife O Neill, Laura Barry, Jenny
Ryle and Mairead O Dwyer - all are great panel members...

MINORS

Our last match was played in Cloughduv in very wet and windy
conditions, we were out of contention in this competition but we had
our pride to play for.... the girls gave a hugely committed
performance, again due to numerous injuries we had to move players
around and all girls worked and put in a huge effort... Cloughduv got
the win on the night but we were happy with the overall attitude and
commitment of the players. Laura Barry had to retire due to a leg
injury and we hope to see her back soon, We also wish a speedy
recovery to Jess Hennigan (Who missed the Minor Munster Final) Kate
Green and Mairead O Dwyer all having injuries. Well done girls... we
now have championship to train for so keep up the good work.
TRAINING:
WEDNESDAY 7 - 8PM
FRIDAY 7 - 8PM
SUNDAY - 9AM - 10 AM - JUNIORS
10AM - 11AM - MINORS
Please attend as many of the above sessions as you can.
We have entered the Munster Junior Summer League and also a one day
Tournament in Kerry so we have plenty to keep us busy and out of
trouble......
Best of luck to all our girls taking College and Second Level Exams.
Claire Ryan, Lisa O Callaghan, Orla Ni Chathasaigh, Emer Nolan, Fiona
Ryan, Laura Barrett, Jenny Cotter, Nicola Young, Laura O Leary, Laura
Driscoll

Fiona O Brien, Leanne Doyle, Kate Green, Lauren Cooper, Alex Lynch, &
Julia Dineen.

It's not all about Camogie you know

Our Hardy U10's got a day off training a couple of Sunday's ago. Mind
you they were after playing with great skill and tram work the day
before at a blitz in Ballygiblin, Mitchelstown. It wasn't all rest
though. These girls decided it was time to do something for the
community and so they joined forces with those hard working people in
the Ballincollig Tidy Towns group to help clean up the main street and
surrounding areas between Quish's Super Valu and the Topaz garage at
the East Gate. This was organised as part of part of National Spring
Clean 2012. About 20 girls and some of their parents turned up on the
morning to help tidy the town. Each girl got their own picker and
rubbish bag and proceeded to fill them as quickly as possible.
Everyone enjoyed the hour, though it flew and all involved were well
pleased with their mornings work. Tom Butler for the Tidy Towns was
delighted to see such a pleasant bunch of girls helping out and
rewarded them all with a few goodies at the end of the morning.

Mossie’s Marathon

Our under 10 trainer Mossie O'Sullivan has bravely (or stupidly)
volunteered to run the Cork City Marathon to raise funds for
Ballincollig Camogie Club. For all parents and friends of the club,
please make sure to support Mossie and the club by buying lines from
our Camogie girls. The money is needed by the club to provide the
fantastic facilities that the girls use, so all donations are needed
to make sure the club can continue to provide the best for the girls.
Everyone buying a line can enter their guess for how long it takes
Mossie to complete the Marathon, and the nearest guess to his actual
time wins €200. This is Mossie's first marathon and he "claims" to
have run a 10km race in 50 minutes and 27 seconds. Remember when
guessing his time that the marathon isjust over40km (and his 10km time
is not confirmed by the Olympic Council of Ireland and is based on his
faulty stopwatch). You can see a picture of Mossie here running past
our club's sponsor Down's Supervalu. This is Mossie after about 10
seconds of running so don't based your estimate on how fit and
energetic he looks in the photo – he will look a lot different after
40km.
Please give generously, and the club members would like to thank
Mossie for the great effort he is making on all our behalf.
Under 14
Training went well on Sunday morning, a total of 15 players worked
hard. We worked on target practice and challenges. Our four usual
defenders were put to the test with each of the players taking tackles
against them. We were very impressed with everyone's work.
We have a league match against Killeagh and a full report will follow
next week. This will prove to be a tough match, as Killeagh always put
up a great game.
Girls, please try your best to fill your sponsor card, 'Mossy's
Marathon'. And bring it back as soon as you can. Make sure you get
people to guess the time Mossy will complete the marathon in, and they
might be lucky enough to win €200 for guessing the right time!!!

JUNIOR B

This group of girls have now played 2 of their 5 league matches.
First match was at home to Ballygarvan and the girls got off to a
strong start. Both clubs have Senior Teams so were fielding second
teams in the Junior Grade. It was a strong performance and
Ballincollig led for the match.
We had some excellent scores from Orlaith J, Aoife O Neill, Claire
Ryan, Edel, Chloe and Emer Nolan... show a new depth in the side for
scoring.... The defence was strong overall but for 10 minutes in the
second half conceded 2-2 but finished very srongly. The hard work in
preparing for the league showed but as always there is room for
improvement in areas of the game so that will be for the training
field.
Team Aisling H, Meabh Mc Manaman, Lourise Weste (Captain), Sinead
Barry, Nicola Young, Laura Driscoll, , Emer Nolan, Mia Cronin, Laura
Barrett, Chloe Hennigan, Edel Murphy, and full forward line of Claire
Ryan, Orlaigh Jennings & AOife O Neill... Subs on the night Catriona
Ni Chathasaigh, Ciara O Riordan and Sarah McCoy..... Also available
for selection were Ciara O Sullivan, Shannen O Brien,Lisa O Callaghan
and Alex Lynch
Our second match was again at home on Friday 13th but thankfully we
had no bad luck on the night - this time we were playing Courcey
Rovers, agian Courceys have a senior team.
This match was played on pitch 1 which was in immaculate condition and
a great match was played.
The line out differed so
Aisling Hen in goal, full back line Meabh, Louise and Sinead B,
Nicola, Laura D and Ciara Riordan, midfield pairing of Mia Cronin &
Sarah McCoy, Half forwards Catriona, Edel and Chloe and full forward
line Claire Ryan, Orlaigh J and Laura Barrett.....
The team started and finished very strongly, their overall play was
improved on the first league match and we proved too strong on the
night for Courceys who had a very young team. Our scores coming from
Claire Ryan, Orlaith Jennings, Edel Murphy... the scores were set up
by excellent forward play from Catriona Chloe and Laura B. We
introduced Emma Donovan, Lisa O Callaghan, Rachel Nevin, Laura O
Donoghue and Jenny Cotter in the second half and again this ensured we
stayed on top in all areas. Our goalie and defence worked hard for the
hour and conceded 6 scores, our midfield ran themselves into the
ground and controlled the area, and our forwards put in massive team
work to secure 16 scores on the board.................
AWAY TO ST FINBARRS ON FRIDAY 20TH
We went to the Bars with two wins behind us but it was not to be our
night.... it was a tired performance in many parts of the pitch and we
were beaten by 5 points. We worked hard but on the night the Bars
seemed to be sharper and used their possession well. We got some great
scores from Aoife, Orlaith. Claire, some excellent midfield work by
Sarah and ferocious defending by captain Louise, corner backs Lisa and
Sinead.... our half backs were under tremendous pressure for the hour
but tried hard to hold the Bars....
HOME TO CASTLEMAGER ON FRIDAY 27TH APRIL time: 7pm sharp -
Castlemagner unable to play.
Final league match AWAY TO BALLINASCARTHY - this match is confirmed
for Friday 4th May - leaving Club at 5.30pm sharp.....
As this is a very tight competition all matches have to be won to
secure a place in the final 2..... and with the increase in numbers
from 8 teams to 13 teams in the competition it is a much stronger and
interesting competition

MINOR

This year the Board have organised a 13-a-side league competition - a
new venture and we are looking forward to the challenge.
The panel is made of 5 girls from the Under 16, and 11/12 girls at
minor level..... as Jess and Sinead train with the Senior Panel and
the Under 16 girls train with their panel it is difficult to get time
together, however, despite this we have worked very hard and the girls
are a great group.
Our first match was against Brian Dillons and despite a great
performance we went down by the narrowest of margins a point and with
the final whistle being blown for full time when we were on the edge
of the square who knows????
The new format meant a fast paced and skilled match was played by both
teams with very little between them...., in the first half we
dominated and should probably have been further ahead but missed frees
and scoring opportunities meant we only led by 1-4 to 1gl.... all the
girls were working hard in all areas of the pitch and the new format
suited some players more than others.............
The second half Brian Dillons dominated and took the lead and despite
our best efforts we fell short, Ciara Riordan who was having her best
game to date but got a nasty hit to the knee and had to retire and
ended up with 5 stitches but no doubt after her little rest she will
be back flying again........ the game was fast and furious and both
teams committed to getting a result.......
Team Aisling Hennigan, Ciara O Riordan, Meabh McManaman, Grace
McDonnell, Laura Barry (Captain), Fiona O Brien, Jess Hennigan and
Mairead O Dwyer, forwards Shannen O Brien, Sarah McCoy, Chloe
Hennigan, Sinead O Sullivan and Mia Cronin...
We introduced Lauren Cooper into the forward line and despite her
young age she did very well and her first touch set up our second
goal..... we also introduced Judy Murphy... We are lucky to have a
substitute goalie at this age in Leanne Doyle and we have new comer
Julia Dineen whom we hope to introduce during the course of the league
as both girls have been working hard at training.
Overall all girls did well and the new fast format suited some players
better than others but we now know what it is all about so we will
work hard again and will keep pushing hard to improve. Well done to
all the girls you did us proud.
Against Milford in Milford on SATURDAY 21ST APRIL @ 6.45PM -
unfortunately we had to travel with a number of key players injured or
unavailable - Jess Hennigan and Ciara Riordan (whom we hope to have
back soon).... however, those on duty did their best to play a
physically bigger and stronger side than ourselves.... Aisling in
goal, despite a knee injury, did very well and work hard, our
defenders had to work very hard as there was constant pressure but led
by Laura B they give it their all. Mairead O Dywer had to retire due
to a broken finger (get well soon) and as we had a limited number of
subs we had to move players out of their normal spots... all girls
gave 100% and despite the defeat we are working towards the new format
championship later in the year.
TRAINING CONTINUES
WEDNESDAY 7PM to 8PM
FRIDAY 7PM - 8PM
SUNDAY - NOTE NEW TIME AND PITCH
ALL JUNIORS TO ATTEND 9AM TO 10AM - NEW PITCH 5
ALL MINORS TO ATTEND 10AM TO 11AM - NEW PITCH 5
WE ALSO HAD A GREAT TRAINING ADVENTURE AT THE GLEN RESOURCE CENTRE ON
SUNDAY 15TH APRIL - WE HAD A FANTASTIC ATTENDANCE OF 27
PLAYERS..................... THE GIRLS HAD A GREAT MORNING. The tests
of strength, courage, stamina, cuteness and character were preformed
with great aplomb and they were a pleasure to be with............... A
quick lunch and some of us returned for the Annual Easter Hunt which
was a fantastic event as always and had some down time
fun.....................

Senior

We finished off the league with a very satisfying win last weekend to
Ballygarvan. Well done to everyone involved in the 2-12 to 2-8 win.
Now the focus turns to championship preparations but first of all, we
wish everyone involved in exams the very best in this stressful time.
Best of luck girls.

Under 8

The U8 girls had their first big day of matches at home this year.
They hosted Douglas, Inniscarra and Eire Og in what turned out to be a
great sporting contest with plenty of excitement to keep the large
number of supporters entertained for nearly 2 hours.
Ballincollig fielded two teams, nicknamed the Ballincollig Butterflies
and the Ballincollig Bunnies, 21 girls in all, scoring too many goals
to mention.
For the Bunnies were Ciara O'B brilliant in goal with a great strike
of the ball outfield, Sorcha pulling hard on the ball left and right,
Kate rock solid pulling on moving balls, Ailbhe fantastic at flicking
the ball into space to create room, Chloe and Ellabeth dribbled
through the opposition at ease, Ciara O'D great in the clash, Sinéad
the powerhouse at midfield full of energy, Méabh clean striker of the
ball with great sense of positioning and Niamh a golden touch around
goal.
For the Butterflies were Aoibhinn with clever puck outs and
intelligent out field play, Abby covering a lot of ground with great
tackling, both Lily May and Lily C.M scoring goals for fun, Aine
outstanding in all positions pulling left and right, Caoimhe dominated
midfield setting up a lot goals and scoring a few as well, Hazel
striking the ball across two zones, Aoife and Jill who weren't going
to be stopped when the goals were in sight, Emma showing us what clash
of the ash means and Threse timing her tackling and strikes on the
ball to perfection.
Special thanks to the girls that refereed the matches, Fiona, Mairead,
Ciara and Jess.
After the matches it was back to the club house where both players and
supporters enjoyed refreshments prepared by a great team of
volunteers. Thanks to all involved!

Under 9/10

Had yet another blitz last Saturday in mitchestown these girls don't
want any rest. In total we had 18 girls show up making up'2 teams ,we
played 3 games in total against Sarsfield, Castlelyons and' St
Flanagan's the weather was perfect for camogie and we were not short
on skill, Caoimhe Creedon scored a fab goal from a free on the half
way line, Amy Murphy and Abbie o Sullivan were in midfield and showed
great skill and team work with some excellent passing, Ellie Ronayne
was great in the backline and showed great determination in keeping
the keeper safe, well done girls the second group also played three
game against the same teams Daniela Quinn was great in defence she
also got the opportunity to played up forward helping Nichola Batt who
scored 2 fab goals Eanna o Connell and Eirka o leary played very good
together in midfield and cover a lot of ground sending plenty of ball
into the forward line, well done girls.
There is no rest for this group or their parents on Sunday the 22 a
day after the blitz bright and early the under 9/10 participated in
the tidy towns clean up in the village 26 girls and 16 parents took
part in this big clean up so well done and a huge thank you to the
parents for having the girls involved,(photos of the morning can be
view on our website or the Ballincollig tidy towns website) we just
might give ye a break this week from matches so ye can have a small
lie in, but don't forget training is Sunday at 12.15 see ye there.

Under 14

The U14 panel played their third league match last Thursday against
Eire Og. It was important that we got a win to stay competitive in our
league campaign. It was important that we got off to a got start as we
knew Eire Og would put up a tough game. This was something that had
let us down in the last two league games. However last week we finally
saw how great this panel truly is. From the throw in everyone gave it
100% and we were first to every ball. We put away some early scores
and came off out at half time well ahead. During the second half Eire
Og came back fighting and managed to bring the score close.
Ballincollig put three more points on the board and finally the final
whistle blew. Keep up the great work girls; we knew ye had that
performance in ye. Final score Ballincollig 5-5 Eire Og 5-2.

Seniors

Our interest in this year's league ended last weekend with a
disappointing loss to St Catherine's. We finish off the league with a
game home to Ballygarvan on Saturday (provisional). Hopefully we can
finish on a positive note which will give us more confidence going
into the championship. We need to use the next couple of months
focussing on getting the basics right and if this happens, we will
have an impact in the championship.
